"Observation is a valuable gift to me—it enables me to see things with depth and detail. Working in the field of design is endlessly engaging and never feels dull."
ABOUT ME
Hung Man Wa, Mandy is a multidisciplinary designer and passionate musician whose creative journey thrives at the intersection of visual storytelling and sound. With a keen eye for detail and a deep appreciation for observation, Mandy believes that the smallest moments often hold the most powerful stories—both in design and in life. Mandy graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising Design from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2019) and went on to earn a Master of Arts in Music from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (2022). Her academic background reflects her dual passions, which continue to shape her diverse creative work.
Professionally, Mandy has worked across various mediums including graphic design, digital illustration, and branding. She has collaborated with organizations such as ZUJI Hong Kong, where her illustrations were featured on their official website and Facebook page in 2018. She also partnered with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Student Union Orchestra, designing a visual series showcased on their social platforms in 2017. Her love for sketching, especially people, has grown into a personal artistic practice. She regularly shares her artwork through her Instagram account and Facebook page, where she posts original character illustrations and observational sketches. These platforms have allowed her to connect with a wider audience and develop her voice as an illustrator.
In addition to her design career, Mandy is a dedicated clarinetist, performing in symphony orchestras and symphonic bands for over 20 years. This lifelong engagement with music not only enriches her daily life but also serves as a profound source of creative inspiration. For Mandy, design is never boring—it’s a living, evolving expression of her curiosity, her experiences, and the world she sees through a deeply observant lens.
